Getting Started
Step 1: Choose Your Environment
When you connect dala.care to Zapier, you will be asked to select an Environment. This determines which dala.care server your Zaps communicate with:
Environment | When to use |
Production US | Your agency operates in the United States and uses the US production system |
Production EU | Your agency operates in Europe and uses the EU production system |
Development | You are testing the integration in a sandbox environment (not for live data) |
Tip: If you are unsure which production environment to choose, check the region you selected when logging into dala.care Office — the region picker on the login page corresponds to your environment (US or EU).
Step 2: Generate an API Key
Log in to dala.care Office.
Navigate to Settings > API Keys (direct link: https://office.dala.care/settings/apikeys). You must be a tenant-level Admin to manage API keys.
Click Create API Key and give it a descriptive name (e.g., “Zapier Integration”).
Assign one or more roles to the API key. Each role is scoped to a resource (tenant, division, region, or office):
Role | Best for |
Admin | Full access — use when your Zaps need to manage all domains (care recipients, caregivers, visits, activities, billing) |
Scheduling Manager | Scheduling operations — use when your Zaps primarily create/update visits and manage caregiver assignments |
Success Manager | Care coordination — use when your Zaps focus on care recipient management and contacts |
Tip: Follow the principle of least privilege — choose the narrowest role and scope that covers what your Zaps need. For example, if your Zaps only manage visits for a single office, assign the Scheduling Manager role scoped to that office rather than the entire tenant.
5. Copy the key and store it securely — you will not be able to view it again after
leaving the page.
6. Optionally set an expiration date on the key. Rotating API keys periodically is a
good security practice.
Step 3: Connect in Zapier
In the Zapier editor, add a dala.care action or search step.
Click Connect a new account.
Select your Environment from the dropdown.
Paste your API Key.
Zapier will verify the connection by making a test request. If it succeeds, you are ready to build Zaps.
